Dust Collector Bags: Dust on tubesheet
An excessive amount of dust on the clean side of the
tubesheet is both an indication of a problem and a
problem itself. Excessive dust on the tubesheet can
be caused by:
• bags not properly installed
• poor cellplate fit (top loader)
• loose clamps (bottom loader)
• mismatched filter media to dust
• overcleaning
• failures in bags (holes, rips, tears, stitching failures)
• cracks in tubesheet on welds attaching
0tubesheet
to walls
• poor prior maintenance
Excessive dust on the tubesheet
can also cause:
• excessive emissions from the stack
• premature bag failures due to abrasion by the cleaning
system and/or dust build up inside the bags
• bags installation and removal problems
• corrosion and scaling of the tubesheet
Remedies for
these problems include:
• using professional baghouse
maintenance
0personnel
• buying bags which fit properly from a quality
0bag
manufacturer
• investigating and installing bags designed to
0separate the dust at
the highest efficiency level
0possible without
causing Δ problems
• adjusting the cleaning system timers or using
0“on
demand” cleaning
• welding/caulking to make the tubesheet “gas
tight”
