Dust Collector Troubleshooting:
Dusting
Dusting is the passage of excessive amounts of dust through or around the filter bag or dust collector bags. Excessive dust would be defined as more than allowed by permit limits. Dusting can be caused by:
• media mismatched to particle size
• non-agglomerating dust
• low quality media (no scrim)
• over cleaning
• faulty installation of bags
Potential solutions for dusting include:
• particle size analysis of dust (PSA)
• dust analysis for general properties
• matching of media based on PSA and properties
• MPS® high efficiency felts
• scrim supported felts
• collector walkdown to observe cleaning process
and whether bag installation is correct
