Dust Collector Troubleshooting:
Fibrous Dust
Fibrous dusts in a dust collector bag include wood or wood by-products, foods and food by-products, textile fibers and waste and even “streamers” created in making petro-chem based resins. Whatever the source, fibrous dust creates a special problem in a conventional collector. Typical problems related to fibrous dusts are:
• poor cake release
• bridging of dust between bags
• packing of the collector with dust which will not drop out
• potential for fires
• multiple maintenance problems
Fortunately, BWF is the only company offering specific filter media and dust collector bags designed for fibrous dusts. These are:
• Shellsurf (base model)
• SSR (base model plus CS17® oil/water
0repellant treatment)
• ECD (base model plus Code 9 anti-adhesive
0treatment)
• ExCharge® option (add static dissipating capability
to the above designs)
Each of these treatments are made in a way which prevents the “tendrils” of fibrous dust from attaching to the fibers on the surface of the felt media. To this we add several options to counteract other problem dust characteristics and static built up. BWF has the only solution in the industry for fibrous dusts.
